Nestling in a gloriously green woodland valley, two miles from Barnstaple, Broomhill is a stunning late Victorian hotel with a twist: there is fantastic art everywhere.
Complemented by an award-winning restaurant, Broomhill is home to a contemporary art gallery and sculpture gardens which have organically grown over the last twenty years into one of the largest collections of contemporary sculpture in the south west of England boasting an eclectic collection of over 300 sculptures by over 60 artists.
Sculptures on a wide range of scales are integrated into the natural landscape amongst wild ferns, ancient oaks and slow streams, bringing the art to life. Visitors are entertained, amused, stirred and provoked with work by internationally renowned artists including Ronald Westerhuis, Giles Penny, Greta Berlin and Sandy Brown.
There is something for every taste; from abstract to figurative the sculptures evoke strong emotional responses and inspire future generations. The landscape itself is a work of art, with secret pathways and steps making exploring the gardens a journey of discovery. The gardens and woodland are bursting with wildlife too!
Broomhill is situated two miles from Barnstaple; England’s oldest borough and Gold Award winner for the prettiest floral town in Europe.
